Software Update — 6 September 2026

Release: 6 September 2026

This update is mostly corrective: job and examination numbering, the dispensing copy, medical-aid submissions, and a set of crashes that were stopping work mid-task. There are two small additions to the examination screen as well.

Below is a plain-language summary. No action is required on your side, with one exception noted under Worth knowing at the end.

Job Tracking

  • Duplicating a job no longer copies its number — a job created by duplicating another one carried the original's job number across, so two jobs could share a number. A duplicate now takes a fresh number of its own.
  • Duplicating a job no longer copies its queue status — a duplicate arrived already flagged as queued, which put work on the orders desk that nobody had sent there.
  • Branch numbering is no longer over-ridden — separately from the new-branch numbering fix in the 18 August release, a practice-wide fallback number range could take precedence over a branch that already had its own range, so job cards came out under the wrong prefix. Each branch's own numbering is used first.
  • Jobs no longer go missing from the project view — some jobs stopped appearing on the project board after being moved, because a stored display setting had gone stale. Those have been recalculated and the setting is kept current.

Clinical Examinations

  • Jump to the previous fundus examination — a button on the fundus section opens the patient's previous fundus examination, so you can compare without searching for it.
  • The previous examination date can be typed — it could only be chosen from the date picker, which was slow when back-capturing history. It now accepts a typed date as well.
  • Multifocal Add carries through to the contact lens dispensing sheet — an Add recorded on the examination had to be re-entered on the C/L dispensing sheet. It now pulls through.
  • The dispensing copy is complete again — copying an examination to a dispensing record dropped some of the prescription details and, in some cases, failed outright with an error. The copy now carries the full prescription and completes cleanly.

Invoicing and Accounting

  • Examination list no longer crashes on shared patients — opening the examination list could fail with a permissions error where a patient had been invoiced by another branch in the group.
  • Locked periods are applied consistently — where two lock dates were set, the system now uses the later of the two, so a locked period cannot be worked around by the other date.
  • Tax allocation rule corrected — an obsolete tax record rule left over from the upgrade has been switched off; it could interfere with tax allocation on invoices.
  • Branch stock transfers stay in their own branch — an invoice raised in one branch could generate its stock transfer against another branch's operation type. The transfer now follows the branch the stock movement belongs to.
  • Gross Profit recalculation fixed — running the GP recalculation failed with an error whenever there was actually something to recalculate.
  • Outstanding account links repaired on migrated practices — on practices whose data was imported rather than upgraded in place, patient outstanding accounts were not being linked, and the step that should have reported the problem failed silently. Both are fixed.

Medical Aid

  • A failed submission can no longer overwrite another patient's response — when a call to the medical-aid switch failed, the response could be written back against the wrong record. Failed calls are now contained to the record they belong to.

Appointments and SMS

  • Appointment type setup no longer crashes — creating an appointment type from one of the ready-made presets failed with an error.
  • Appointment SMS reminders follow the branch you are working in — the reminder defaulted to a fixed company rather than the branch selected in the company switcher.
  • SMS templates stay as you set them — the standard message templates were being re-applied on every update, overwriting practice wording. They are now frozen after installation, and a leftover "TEST" sender has been cleared.

Reports and Stock

  • Age profile totals corrected, and the report no longer errors where a diagnosis code carries a zero rate.
  • Stock code clearing fixed — clearing a product code during a stock count wrote directly to the database and could leave records inconsistent. It now goes through the normal product update.

Point of Sale

  • Creating a patient at the till works again — on practices using the optional point-of-sale dispensing flow, the Create Patient screen could not be opened or saved.

Worth knowing

  • Multi-branch practices — the branch-separation work continued in this release (examination lists, stock transfers, appointment reminders). If something that used to be visible across all your branches now appears only in one, that is intentional. Tell us if it affects how you work and we will look at it with you.

As always, if something does not look right after this update, please log it on the support desk and we will pick it up.
