Release: 13 September 2026
This update corrects how contact lenses are priced, repairs job, examination and file numbering on branches other than your main one, and clears three permission errors that were blocking everyday screens.
Below is a plain-language summary. One item does need your attention — please read Worth knowing at the end before your next contact lens dispense.
Pricing
- Contact lenses are charged at your pricelist again — every contact lens dispensed was being billed at the product's plain list price, ignoring the pricelist on the examination entirely. Medical-aid rates and negotiated rates were both being bypassed. Contact lenses now price off the dispensing pricelist, in the same way spectacle dispensing already did. See Worth knowing below — this has changed what patients are charged.
Numbering
- Job, examination and file numbers work on every branch — this is the underlying cause behind the numbering faults reported over the past few weeks. Four number ranges were tied to whichever company happened to be active when the system was first set up. On any other branch they produced nothing at all: job cards with no number, examinations named "New" instead of carrying an examination number, and patient file numbers left blank. All four ranges are now shared across branches, and existing practices have been repaired automatically.
- Your own numbering prefixes are protected — the repair above is deliberately written so that it cannot reset a practice's own prefixes back to the standard ones. Whatever prefix your practice uses stays exactly as it is.
Clinical Examinations
- Empty columns removed from the examination lists — the Refraction Test, Contact Lens Spectacle Rx, and Final Rx / Dispensing lists each opened with a blank leading column. It has been removed.
- Examination line alignment corrected — the first column of the examination lines sat out of line with the columns beneath it.
- Examination totals are formatted properly, rather than showing raw unformatted figures.
Permissions
- CRM Recalls opens for all staff — opening a patient card from CRM Recalls failed with a permissions error for any user who is allowed to work in more branches than they currently have switched on. This affected staff at multi-branch practices in particular.
- The Medical Aid (MSV) button works for non-administrators — pressing MSV on a patient raised a permissions error for everyone except administrators, before any medical-aid check could run.
Purchasing
- Fixed Discount no longer crashes on a new line — entering a fixed discount on a purchase order line before the quantity or unit price was filled in, or on a free or sample line, failed with an error.
Worth knowing
- Contact lens pricing has changed what you invoice — this update is already in effect. Until it went out, every contact lens was being billed at the product's list price rather than at the pricelist the examination carried. Now that the pricelist is applied correctly, contact lens charges have come down to the rates your practice already has configured — medical-aid and negotiated rates included. This is the correct amount, not a discount, but if your practice had been invoicing contact lenses at list price, contact lens revenue will have stepped down from this release onwards. We should have flagged this before it shipped rather than after — our apologies for the surprise. If the new prices are not what you expect, the pricelist itself is where to look, and we are happy to go through it with you.
- Multi-branch practices — this is the third numbering fix in as many releases, and they are three separate faults: new branches not picking up a range at all (18 August), a practice-wide range over-riding a branch's own (6 September), and the one above — four ranges tied to a single company, so every other branch got nothing back. The last of these was the underlying cause and is now repaired on existing practices. Records already created without a number keep the number they have; please log anything that needs correcting.
As always, if something does not look right after this update, please log it on the support desk and we will pick it up.
